CORR BLIMEY PHOTO BY WARWICK LEIGH/ELLE'S FASHION BOUDOIR |
FIRST CELEB I SPOTTED WAS LISA WILKINSON, I GOT THE GUTS AND MOSEYED OVER TO HER TO GET A PICTURE WITH HER, BUT I RUSHED MY PARTNER AND THE PHOTO DIDN'T WORK. PART AND PARCEL.
WITH CANBERRA'S MOST TALENTED DESIGNERS ON SHOW FOR THE FINAL NIGHT, WE KNEW THIS WOULD BE MEMORABLE. ESPECIALLY THE FEATURED LIVE MUSIC OF THE NIGHT BY DUO ASHLEY FERAUDE AND CLASSICAL VIOLINIST MR MICHAEL.
THERE WAS A SPECIAL PLACE IN MY HEART WHEN THE FIRST MODEL WALKED OUT FOR CORR BLIMEY IN A CREAM COAT THAT HAD ME IN AWE, ESPECIALLY THE STRUCTURED SHOULDERS AND LITTLE POCKETS. THE ROUND TAIL WAS A MIX OF FUTURISTIC AND QUIRKY. A EUROPEAN WINTER LAND. I WOULDN'T MIND THIS WHOLE COLLECTION IN MY CLOSET.
APERIODIC GAVE US DREAMY DRAPING IN WHITE AND RED. WITH RED WIRE ACCENTS AND ANGELIC CUTS. A CLASSIC MIX OF DAY WEAR AND FORMAL. THE WEARABILITY OF THE PIECES MAKE THIS A VERY 'ANY WOMAN WOULD FEEL COMFORTABLE' VIBE.
A VERY SCULPTURED AFFAIR.
U.L.E WAS AN ORGANIC FEAST OF HAND DYED FABRICS AND HUES OF BROWNS, PINKS AND KHAKI. THERE IS A SIGNATURE TO OUR DESIGNERS IN CANBERRA AND U.L.E'S COLLECTION HAD AN EARTHY TONE THAT CAPTURES CANBERRA'S ENVIRONMENTAL CREATIVE SPIRIT.
I ADORE THE COLLECTION BY M&TM. GIVING ME AN ULTIMATE 30S VIBE (SMOKY JAZZ CLUB). FROM THE CROPPED PANTS AND BRACES ON THE MALES TO THE FRINGING AND LACE ON THE HOT PANTS, THIS SCREAMS FROM THE PAST.
SCARLETTE WAS SO WEARABLE AND CLEAN WITH A STUNNING PALETTE OF CREAM, NAVY AND WALNUT. I AM A SUCKER FOR THE COLOUR BLOCK LOOK. WITH SIMPLE PIECES FEATURING CROP TOPS, SHIFT DRESSES, PLEATED SKIRTS, I WOULD WEAR THE WHOLE COLLECTION. ONE COMMENT THAT CAME FROM ONE OF THE BLOGGERS SITTING NEXT TO ME "SUCH A WEARABLE COLLECTION".
PATTERNS AND AFRICAN FABRICS WITH BOLD PRINTS , SHEKUDO UNLEASHED POWDER BLUE AND PEACH INTERWEAVING LOOKS. A STANDOUT WERE ALL THE CUT OUTS AND A REVEALING PAIR OF WHITE HAREM PANTS THAT LEFT LITTLE TO THE IMAGINATION WHICH I COMPLETELY ADORED. A WEARABLE MIX OF CUTS AND A LITTLE 'SOLANGE'.
BAKU GAVE US A FEW BOYS TO LOOK AT WITH A SNEAK PEAK INTO THE MENS RANGE WITH A PAIR OF WINGED LYCRA SWIM SHORTS THAT FELT VERY JEREMY SCOTT AND SOME KILLER BRIGHT YELLOW BOARDIES. WE ALSO GOT TO SEE MORE OF THE SWIMSUITS FEATURED WITH MONT JACKETS IN DELICIOUS COLOURS. WHEN THE JACKETS CAME OFF I LOVED THE VIBRANT PURPLE ASYMMETRICAL ONE PIECE AND THE MULTITUDE OF CUTS AND PATTERNS. MY FAVE NIGHT FOR BAKU.
THE FINALE WAS A BEAUTIFUL ALMOST DREAMY COLLECTION BY MATERIALBYPRODUCT. USING CLIENTS AND LOYAL FOLLOWERS AS THE MODELS, THEIR STUNNING WORK USING SILK WAS A NOD TO SUCH TALENT I KEEP FORGETTING CANBERRA POSSESSES CREATIVELY. A PAS SEUL (SOLO BALLET) WAS SPELL BINDING USING A SILK DRAPE CARDIGAN AS PART OF HER DANCE.
CONGRATULATIONS TO ANDREA AND CLINT HUTCHINSON FOR A FIRST CLASS EVENT THAT CANBERRA CAN BE EXTREMELY PROUD OF. AND AS I TOLD ANDREA, I WOULD LOVE IT TO BE TWICE A YEAR. ALSO THE DESIGNERS, MODELS, MAKE UP ARTISTS, HAIR STYLISTS, PRODUCTION, MUSICIANS AND ANYONE INVOLVED THANKS FOR GIVING US YOUR HEART AND SOULS AND GIVING CANBERRANS WHAT THEY DESERVE.
WITH ALL THIS, WHAT WILL I DO UNTIL NEXT YEAR?
