DERBY DAY 2014: Black and White, With a Pop of Purple

After what feels like forever, the first thing I have to talk about is Derby Day. Yesterday had strong winds at Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne, but it wasn't enough to deter the ladies from looking the part in addition the fascinating fascinators. 

One of my fave looks was Rachael Finch's Aurelio Costarello dress that broke the black and white tradition with purple lining. One of the more edgier looks of the day came from Solange with a birdcage inspired look from Australian label Cameo minus hat. 

One of the shocking-not-shocking moments were the Madden brothers. It would be more shocking and amazing if they actually wore a suit. Thanks for the effort guys. Another stunner and almost resembling a Dolce & Gabbana ad is Jennifer Hawkins in a visually stunning dress by Alex Perry.

Chris Hemsworth looked dapper in a suit, but his hair was a little flapper. Blogger and racing royalty, Kate Waterhouse looked divine and effortless in Lanvin and a D&G headpiece. Jesinta Campbell dared pants for the day. 

Edwina Bartholomew got more than she bargained for when she had a 'bitch stole my look' moment in her Toni Maticevski 'Sanctury' gown, while last years Bachelor winner, Anna Heinrich wore the black version of the dress. 

Sunrise host Samantha Armytage hugged her curves in a body-con dress by Escada explaining she just wanted to be 'comfortable' for the day. 

I spotted the lovely ladies and some new additions from 'The Real Housewives of Melbourne' all dressed to the nines. Kerri-Anne Kennerly was also one of my faves. Does that woman ever age?

Montana Cox suited up in a suit by Farage and shirt by Alexander McQueen...... More to come.
